Adventure Summary: The Journey to Ledgerton
The Journey
The group decides to follow one of Farek’s maps to a location with potential loot and adventure near a town called Ledgerton. Upon the road, they encounter a group of traders who have circled their wagons for the evening.
- Arrival: An old drunk meets them at the entrance, informing them they can rest and find food inside the circle.
- Encampment: Inside, the leader serves stew from a pot by the fire.
- Rest: The group pays a few coppers for bowls of stew and spends the night safely.
The next day, the group arrives in town amidst a festival. The atmosphere is divisive; those participating seem to genuinely enjoy it, while those who aren't appear annoyed by the situation.
- The Speech: They catch the end of a speech by Mayor Vivian Valcour.
- The Mandate: Vivian insists the festival is vital for efficiency, repeatedly quoting a 4% increase in productivity resulting from these mandatory celebration periods.
Investigation & The Water Quest
The group splits up to investigate the town’s situation:
- Etta’s Infiltration: Etta attempts to spy on Vivian in cat form but is immediately recognized by the Mayor as a wizard in disguise.
- The Job Offer: Vivian pivots immediately, trying to convince Etta to investigate a crisis:
- For the past 2 weeks, the town’s water has been tainted by a purple poison.
- Party Conflict: When Etta attempts to refuse the monetary reward, Farek becomes upset. He demands they accept the payment, noting that while Etta may be relatively "rich," the rest of the group is poor and needs the resources.
Conclusion
Following the negotiation, Vivian allows the group to use a guest house on the edge of town to rest for the night.
